Traditionally, the tiles that make up roof ridges and verges were held in place by mortar - these are known as “wet” systems. While they do work, they have a weakness - the mortar is far weaker than that tiles themselves, and as such is prone to erosion. Consequently, wet ridge and verge systems require maintenance to remain waterproof. A dry system does not use mortar and requires less maintenance. The difference is so significant that British Standards recommend the use of dry systems wherever this is practical. We are experts in dry ridge and verge systems.

Modern roofing to keep you dry

Dry ridge systems

Your roof’s ridge tiles cover the joint between the angled sides of the roof, and are the most exposed area of it. A dry ridge system is faster to install, will last longer, and requires little to no maintenance. It also has inbuilt ventilation, helping to stop moisture from becoming trapped and causing damage to your property.

Dry verge systems

Verge tiles are used to protect the joint between the edge of your roof and the gable end. This is a relatively vulnerable area, where the elements can cause significant damage - the verge tiles stop this. As with the ridge tiles, older, wet verge systems are prone to cracking and deteriorating mortar, leading to the need for maintenance. Modern dry verge systems are much longer lasting.

"Philip responded quickly. Found damage much more extensive than was visible from ground level. Clearly explained the options I had for repair. Work carried out quickly and efficiently by experienced team. All rubbish removed and site left clean”
